Software update policies for macOS devices now apply to all macOS supervised devices. Previously, only those devices that enrolled through Automated Device Enrollment (ADE) would qualify to receive updates. Use Microsoft Intune to deliver important messages and call-to-actions to employees on their devices. Organizational messages are preconfigured messages intended to improve employee communication in remote and hybrid-work scenarios. They can be used to help employees adapt to new roles, learn more about their organization, and stay informed of new updates and trainings. You can deliver messages just above the taskbar, in the notifications area, or in the Get Started app on Windows 11 devices.

In Remote Help, a link has been added to the non-compliance warning notification View device compliance information and it allows a helper to learn more about why the device is not compliant in Microsoft Endpoint Manager.

By default, with multiple maintenance windows, the client only installs software updates during Software Update type windows. It ignores any All deployments maintenance windows, unless they're the only type. You can configure this behavior with the following client setting in the Software updates group: Enable installation of software updates in "All deployments" maintenance window when "Software Update" maintenance window is available. The COMcheck software product group makes it easy for architects, builders, designers, and contractors to determine whether new commercial or high-rise residential buildings, additions, and alterations meet the requirements of the IECC and ASHRAE Standard 90.1, as well as several state-specific codes. COMcheck also simplifies compliance for building officials, plan checkers, and inspectors by allowing them to quickly determine if a building project meets the code.
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) is directed to provide technical assistance to states to support the implementation of model residential and commercial building energy codes (42 USC 6833). As part of this assistance, the DOE Building Energy Codes Program provides ongoing support for REScheck and COMcheck compliance software, which are updated based on new editions of the model codes. DOE has published guidance surrounding its support for the software, including technical assistance requests for modified versions.

SharePlay has been disabled for use in the developer beta 6 versions of iOS 15, iPadOS 15, and tvOS 15, and will be disabled in the upcoming beta 6 release of macOS Monterey. SharePlay will also be disabled for use in their initial releases this fall. SharePlay will be enabled for use again in future developer beta releases and will launch to the public in software updates later this fall.
Municipal ransomware attacks are in decline, but cybercriminal earnings increase: The amount that cybercriminals were able to extract from local municipalities increased from $5 billion in 2017 to $11.5 billion in 2019, despite the raw number of attacks declining, according to a RiskSense ransomware report published last week. Experts insist that small counties can and should fight back simply by removing legacy software, backing-up data, and updating security products to harden their networks. If the numbers are accurate, then they show that attackers are getting better at targeting legacy systems for financial gain.
Ensure to check your client compliance number on a weekly basis. Nothing makes me sadder to see discovered devices without the SCCM client. We often see 60-70% client installation rate. We recommend aiming 95% of the machines to have SCCM clients. With laptops and road warrior, 100% is mostly impossible but with the help of Cloud Management Gateway and proper monitoring, your goal is attainable.

REMINDER Windows 8.1 will reach end of support on January 10, 2023, at which point technical assistance and software updates will no longer be provided. If you have devices running Windows 8.1, we recommend upgrading them to a more current, in-service, and supported Windows release. If devices do not meet the technical requirements to run a more current release of Windows, we recommend that you replace the device with one that supports Windows 11.

We strongly recommend that you install the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system before you install the latest Rollup. SSUs improve the reliability of the update process to mitigate potential issues while installing the Rollup and applying Microsoft security fixes. ISO 8601 is an international standard covering the worldwide exchange and communication of date and time-related data. It is maintained by the Geneva-based International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and was first published in 1988, with updates in 1991, 2000, 2004, and 2019, and an amendment in 2022.[1] The standard provides a well-defined, unambiguous method of representing calendar dates and times in worldwide communications, especially to avoid misinterpreting numeric dates and times when such data is transferred between countries with different conventions for writing numeric dates and times.
When we look at countries in the Top 20 with strong IP laws and a track record of successful license compliance programs (and exclude the BRIC countries), and cross-reference them with the latest BSA Global Software Survey calculation of the commercial value of unlicensed software, there is a $19.8 billion new license revenue opportunity for software suppliers (up 13% from our last analysis).
Regional strategies to generating revenue from the unlicensed use of software yield the best results. Traditionally a softer approach works well in North America and western Europe, but we are increasingly seeing that this approach is also effective in other regions like India (be sure to watch our latest roundtable discussion on software piracy and license compliance for more details).
But what do those numbers mean to building a license compliance program? The BSA pegs the commercial value of unlicensed software in North America and Western Europe is $19 billion. The interesting takeaway here is that this number represents 41 percent of the global number, despite these regions having lower than average piracy rates (16 percent and 26 percent respectively). This is a significant opportunity for revenue generation in regions where the rates of converting pirates to paying customers are high. 2ff7e9595c
